Role overview

LEAD ENGINEER - Cloud Management at Happiest Minds

We are seeking a Cloud Reliability Engineer to help evolve centralized cloud operations from a primarily ticket-led service into a proactive reliability engineering practice.

The role will support and improve cloud infrastructure across GCP and Azure, with a strong emphasis on GCP.

The engineer will utilize operational data?including incidents, support tickets, alerts, and change history?to identify recurring issues and emerging risks before they affect customers.

Working closely with Cloud Foundation and application teams, the engineer will turn insights into durable improvements through automation, observability, problem management, and clear operational guidance.

Responsibilities

  • Support existing Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tooling for Cloud Infrastructure lifecycle management.
  • Troubleshoot, debug, and investigate issues in a timely manner.
  • Provide root cause analysis for internal customers.
  • Analyze trends across incidents, support tickets, alerts, changes, and operational data to identify recurring failure modes and risks before they cause customer impact.
  • Lead or contribute to problem management: validate suspected patterns, document contributing factors, and track corrective and preventive actions through to completion.
  • Partner with infrastructure and application teams to prioritize reliability improvements based on customer impact, recurrence, and operational risk.
  • Improve observability by refining dashboards, health checks, and alerting so that signals are actionable, appropriately prioritized, and tied to clear response guidance.
  • Identify opportunities to reduce operational toil and prevent repeat incidents through scripting, self-service tooling, automation, and safer infrastructure workflows.
  • Review cloud infrastructure for operational risks such as capacity constraints, configuration drift, fragile dependencies, and gaps in recovery readiness; recommend and help implement mitigations.
  • Develop and maintain runbooks, known-error guidance, and post-incident learnings that make recurring issues easier to detect, prevent, and resolve.
  • Collaborate with development teams across multiple domains to implement GitOps and IaC practices.
  • Perform advanced Linux system administration tasks.
  • Handle basic networking tools and concepts (e.g., dig, netstat, nc, iptables).
  • Review, validate, and improve existing documentation, write new documentation and knowledge base articles where required.
  • Mandatory Skills: Strong understanding of Git, GitOps, and Infrastructure as Code (IaC) principles.
  • Familiarity with Kubernetes, Docker, Podman, and knowledge of cloud-native tools and practices.
  • Proven knowledge of common scripting and programming languages (Bash, Python, PowerShell).
  • Proven experience in the Hashicorp ecosystem (Terraform, Terragrunt, Hashicorp Vault, Consul).
  • Experience managing application performance on top of infrastructure as a full stack is a plus.
  • Experience with AI/LLM tooling and agentic workflows.
  • Experience with automation tooling such as Ansible and Puppet.
  • Experience with CI/CD tooling (GitHub actions, workflows, Jira, Artifactory).
  • Strong understanding of system and network administration.
  • Experience with both GCP and Azure cloud platforms.
  • Knowledge of basic networking tools and concepts.
