Project description We are looking for a Senior Avaloq Developer to design, build and enhance trading and settlement functionality on the Avaloq Banking Suite.

You will work with onshore and offshore teams, business analysts and operations stakeholders to deliver robust, compliant solutions for a wealth management client.

Responsibilities

• You will work on the end-to-end securities trade lifecycle, from order capture through execution, STEX (stock exchange) processing and settlement.
• Implement and enhance order handling for exchange-traded and OTC products, including order routing, execution, confirmation and booking.
• Support testing cycles (SIT, UAT, regression), release management and deployment activities.
• Work with Operations, Compliance and Risk teams so solutions meet regulatory and control requirements.

Required qualifications

• Skills Must have 6 to 10+ years in software development, with 4+ years of hands-on Avaloq experience.

Preferred qualifications and skills

• Nice to have Avaloq certification (such as Avaloq Academy certifications).

• Apply pooling logic: aggregating orders into block or pooled orders, allocating executions back to underlying client orders, and netting or consolidating settlement instructions where appropriate.

Additional role details

• A key part of the role is order and settlement pooling: aggregating, allocating and netting instructions efficiently and accurately.
• Responsibilities Design, develop and unit-test Avaloq customisations for trading, STEX and settlement processes in line with the architecture.
• Build and maintain STEX and settlement workflows, covering instruction generation, matching, status handling, fails management and reconciliation.
• Develop and maintain connectivity with exchanges, brokers, custodians and CSDs/depositories using ISO 20022, SWIFT, FIX and APIs.
• Analyse requirements, produce technical designs and estimates, and take part in solution workshops.
• Investigate and resolve complex production incidents, performing root cause analysis and delivering permanent fixes.
• Review code, mentor junior developers and promote best practices in coding, performance and documentation.
• Strong working knowledge of the Avaloq securities trading module, covering order management, execution, STEX and settlement.
• Practical experience with order pooling or aggregation, allocation and settlement netting in a securities environment.
• Proficiency in PL/SQL and the Avaloq development stack (Avaloq Script/AvqScript, Avaloq Workbench, Oracle).
• Solid understanding of the securities lifecycle: pre-trade, trade, post-trade, clearing, settlement, corporate actions and reconciliation.
• Experience with ISO 20022 and SWIFT messaging (MT/MX) and, ideally, FIX connectivity.
• Familiarity with the product range, including equities, bonds, funds, FX and OTC derivatives.
• Strong analytical and debugging skills, with experience of performance tuning in high-volume batch and real-time environments.
• Experience working in Agile/DevOps teams using tools such as Jira, Git and CI/CD pipelines.
• Clear written and verbal communication, and the ability to work with distributed teams across time zones.
• Experience with crypto asset trading and settlement on Avaloq.
• Exposure to Avaloq data extraction and integration approaches, including APIs.
• Knowledge of regulatory requirements affecting trading and settlement (for example MiFID II, CSDR settlement discipline).
• Experience migrating or upgrading Avaloq versions.
• Prior wealth management or private banking domain experience.
