• Location: Coimbatore/Bangalore Responsibilities will include but not be limited to: GST Compliance: Oversee end-to-end GST compliance for the Indian entity/entities.
• Ensure timely filing of GST returns, reconciliations, payments, and other statutory compliances.
• Review GST workings, tax positions, input tax credit (ITC), output tax liabilities, and reconciliations.
• Monitor GST registrations, amendments, cancellations, and related regulatory requirements.
• Ensure appropriate documentation and controls for claiming input tax credit.
• Review GST treatment of domestic and cross-border transactions, including imports, exports, and supplies between related/group entities Customs Compliance & Advisory: Manage and oversee Customs compliance for imports and exports undertaken by the Indian entity.
• Review and advise on customs classification of imported/exported goods, including appropriate tariff classification.
• Review customs valuation, assessable value, applicable duties, exemptions, and other import-related levies.
• Ensure accurate determination and payment of Basic Customs Duty (BCD), Social Welfare Surcharge (SWS), IGST, and other applicable duties/levies .
• Review Bills of Entry, Shipping Bills, supporting documentation, and customs declarations.
• Ensure compliance with applicable Customs Act, Customs Tariff Act, notifications, circulars, and regulatory requirements.
• Reconciliations & Tax Controls: Drive periodic reconciliation of GST returns with books of accounts and other relevant records.
• Review GST input tax credit reconciliations and identify potential credit gaps.
• Establish and monitor controls around import transactions, customs duty payments, and documentation.
• Reconcile customs duty and import-related tax payments with accounting records and ERP data.
• Tax & Customs Audits, Assessments and Litigation: Coordinate GST and Customs departmental audits, investigations, notices, assessments, and related proceedings.
• Work with external tax advisors and legal counsel on responses to GST and Customs notices.
• Prepare/review submissions, documentation, reconciliations, and responses to tax/customs authorities.
• Manage and track outstanding GST and Customs litigation and exposures.
• Support representation before tax/customs authorities, where required.
• Qualification: Approximately 6–12 years of relevant experience in indirect taxation and customs.
• Experience in an in-house tax function, Big 4/professional services firm, or large multinational/corporate environment preferred.
• Strong experience in Indian GST and Customs , including compliance, advisory, audits, assessments, and litigation support.
• Experience dealing with import/export transactions and supply-chain stakeholders is preferred.
