Robotics Lead Validation Engineer About the Role Join AMD’s PAVS team as a Robotics Developer experience Usecases Validation Engineer where you will Validate and Execute diverse Robotics platforms, variants and customer usecases for advanced robotics systems across software, hardware, and integrated platforms. Your work will ensure safety, reliability, and performance through rigorous testing in simulation, Gazebo, Isaac sim, SIL/HIL environments, and real-world deployments. Key Responsibilities<ul style="margin-top: 0in;"><li>Validation Strategy & Usecases : Define Usecases and execute validation plans for robotics software stacks (perception, planning, control) and hardware subsystems.</li><li>Automation & Frameworks: Develop automated test suites for ROS2 nodes, navigation stack (Nav2), and fleet APIs using Python/C++, pytest, gtest/gmock.</li><li>Simulation & Scenario Testing: Build simulation environments (Gazebo/Ignition, Isaac Sim) for warehouse layouts; author scenarios for obstacle avoidance, dynamic traffic, and multi-robot coordination.</li><li>SIL/HIL Validation: Set up Software-in-the-Loop and Hardware-in-the-Loop rigs for AMR controllers, LiDAR emulators, and safety sensors; automate provisioning and logging.</li><li>Sensor QA: Validate LiDAR, depth cameras, IMU, wheel encoders, and odometry accuracy under varying conditions.</li><li>Navigation & Fleet QA: Test SLAM, localization robustness, path planning, and fleet orchestration (traffic management, task allocation, VDA5050 compliance).</li><li>Safety & Compliance: Execute safety protocols for AMRs (emergency stop, zone monitoring, speed limits) aligned with ISO 3691-4, ISO 13849, ANSI/RIA R15.06.</li><li>Performance & Reliability: Measure latency, throughput, and stability under high-load scenarios; validate battery management and docking behaviors.</li><li>CI/CD Integration: Embed automated tests into pipelines for continuous validation; monitor KPIs like defect escape rate and scenario coverage.</li><li>Leadership: Act as a strong individual contributor and mentor for robotics validation teams; collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders to ensure customer experience is prioritized.</li></ul> Required Qualifications<ul style="margin-top: 0in;"><li>6-12 years in QA/Validation, with 7+ years in robotics or AMR systems.</li><li>Strong Python for automation and C++ for ROS2 integration.</li><li>Hands-on experience with ROS2, Nav2 stack, colcon, and simulation tools (Gazebo/Ignition, Isaac Sim).</li><li>Expertise in LiDAR, depth cameras, IMU, odometry, and sensor calibration.</li><li>Familiarity with fleet management systems, traffic control, and VDA5050 protocol.</li><li>CI/CD experience with GitHub Actions/GitLab CI/Jenkins; Docker-based test environments.</li><li>Knowledge of functional safety standards for mobile robots (ISO 3691-4, ISO 13849).</li></ul> Preferred Skills<ul style="margin-top: 0in;"><li>Multi-robot coordination, dynamic obstacle handling, and SLAM algorithms.</li><li>Robotics AMR safety PLCs, zone scanners, and emergency stop circuits.</li><li>Warehouse automation workflows, WMS integration, and OPC-UA.</li><li>Performance benchmarking, reliability testing, and telemetry dashboards.</li></ul> Success Metrics<ul style="margin-top: 0in;"><li>Automated coverage of navigation and fleet scenarios.</li><li>Reduction in field defect escape rate.</li><li>Stability and reliability under multi-robot deployments.</li><li>Compliance with safety standards and successful audits.</li></ul>🎓 Academic Credentials:Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Robotics, Electronics, Mechatronics, Computer Science, or a related field. #LI-NR1 Benefits offered are described: <a href="https://www.amd.com/en/corporate/careers/benefits.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener">AMD benefits at a glance</a>.
