Role overview
Deployment Strategist at Shipsy
Responsibilities
- Diagnose the customer's operational reality.
Employment details
- Travel is significant — expect 40–60% of your time on-site with your customer.
- Location: Gurugram [India]
About the employer
- You become a genuine thought partner to the customer's leaders on how their operation should run, not just the Shipsy face inside the account.
- Become the person inside Shipsy whom colleagues ask when they have a question about that industry.
- Shipsy is the logistics platform behind some of the largest enterprise supply chains in the world.
- Carriers, post and parcel operators, retailers, and FMCG companies use us to plan dispatch, run operations, settle invoices, and handle exceptions at global scale.
- Where we are going.
- Most enterprise logistics still runs on spreadsheets, legacy ERPs, and tribal knowledge.
- We are replacing that with software that uses AI where it actually helps.
- Logistics is a multi-trillion-dollar industry that has been under-served by software for decades.
- We are changing that.
- The scale today: - 150+ enterprise customers across 30+ countries - 5 billion+ shipments processed annually - 240+ carrier integrations - 7 global offices — Gurugram
- Bengaluru
- Dubai
- Riyadh
- Sydney
- Amsterdam
- Singapore - 300+ team members Who we run: Aramex (65 countries, 18,000+ drivers, $27M annual savings delivered)
- Heineken (2M+ trips in Brazil)
- LATAM Cargo (Latin America's largest airline group, $12B+ annual revenue)
- Qatar Post (powers mail to 200+ countries)
- Post Luxembourg (50%+ market share, $5M+/year savings)
- Teleport (80% of Southeast Asia's air-logistics network)
- plus DPD, Smiths News, Apollo Pharmacy, argenx, Flipkart Minutes, Swiggy Instamart, and hundreds more.
- Backed by $35M+ in venture capital from Peak XV Partners , A91 Partners , Info Edge , and others.
- Featured in the Gartner Magic Quadrant .
- SOC 2 Type II , ISO 27001 , and GDPR compliant. 99.7% uptime SLA.
- Trajectory. 50x revenue growth since 2020.
- Building toward $100M ARR and a public listing .
- We are still a startup.
- Our real scale-up began in 2020 — and we have grown 50x since.
- Early enough that every senior hire shapes the next decade of the business.
- You are not joining a steady-state organisation with everything figured out.
- You will build the playbook, lead the team, and own the outcome — with the speed and agency of a startup and the scale of customers most startups never touch.
- The Deployment Strategist is one of the most critical new roles we are building.
- If you have spent your career learning how large, complex operating organisations work — and now want to use that knowledge to ship AI that actually runs them — this is the role.
Additional role details
- The Deployment Strategist is embedded inside one of our strategic enterprise customers, paired with a forward deployed engineer and reporting into an Engagement Manager.
- Your job is to understand the customer's operations better than most of their own employees, frame the highest-leverage problems to solve, and make sure we deliver.
- You translate a messy, human, operational reality into a clear problem statement, then work with your engineering partner to ship the solution that solves it.
- The best people in this seat go deep on two fronts at once: the business problem and the technology.
- You reason from first principles about how an operation actually runs, and you get into the technical detail of how an agent should be built to run it.
- We care far more about how you think than where you've worked.
- If you're high agency and go deep, if you'd rather frame and solve a hard operational problem than manage around it, this is your seat.
- People thrive here from many backgrounds: an ex-founder who wants startup agency with platform leverage; someone who ran a supply-chain or operations function and now wants to build the product rather than buy it; a strategy consultant who loved the operations floor more than the deck.
- The common thread is depth and ownership, not a logo on your CV.
- What you'll own Framing the problem.
- Map current state, identify the highest-leverage opportunities, and build a sequenced transformation roadmap with measurable milestones.
- Pilots and proofs-of-concept.
- Before the contract is signed, you're in the customer's office running the discovery work that scopes the delivery.
- The people who will deliver are the people who scope.
- The customer relationship, from the floor to the boardroom.
- From operations supervisors up to business-unit heads and CXOs.
- Solution design with your engineering partner.
- They build; you frame.
- You translate customer intent into clear solution requirements and AI workflow designs.
- You debate architecture.
- You sit in the same room.
- Adoption.
- Training, workshops, executive briefings, operational rollout.
- The solution working isn't enough; the customer using it is the metric.
- Product feedback.
- Every insight you generate feeds our platform.
- Patterns you spot today become what the product does tomorrow — for every customer.
- Industry depth.
- Build expertise in your assigned vertical (logistics, transport, FMCG, retail).
- Who we're looking for High agency.
- You decide what matters and drive it without waiting to be told.
- You have a track record of framing an ambiguous problem and owning the outcome end to end.
- Depth of thinking.
- First-principles thinker.
- You go deeper than the brief, structure what others find chaotic, and aren't satisfied until you understand the real mechanism.
- Technical depth and curiosity.
- You go into the hard technical problems, not around them.
- You can read an API spec, reason about a data pipeline, and have a substantive debate about how an agent should be built.
- You don't need to code full-stack, but you're genuinely technical and want to be.
- Thought leadership with the customer's leaders.
- You earn the right to shape how a customer's CXOs and business heads think about their own operation.
- They should leave a conversation with you having learned something.
- That's the bar, not just executive presence.
- Deep in the business problem.
- You understand the customer's operation better than most of their own employees.
- Supply chain, logistics, transport, or retail-operations experience is a real advantage.
- If you don't have it, show us you ramp fast on a new operational domain.
- You use AI tools in your work.
- Claude, GPT, agent frameworks, APIs.
- We'll ask you to show us what you've built.
- Background is open.
- We hire deep, high-agency people from many paths: ex-founders, operators and BU owners inside logistics or supply-chain businesses, strategy consultants (MBB or Big-4 strategy arms), or strong operators from high-growth tech.
- The path matters less than the depth and the ownership.
- Tier-1 education.
- IIT / NIT / BITS / equivalent, or top international institution.
- Where the role sits You work in a small team — typically one deployment strategist, one or two forward deployed engineers, and a support and training lead — led by an Engagement Manager who owns the overall customer outcome.
- You report into the Engagement Manager on your account, with a dotted line to the regional Senior Director, Growth Strategy for career development.
- The rest, you're in our regional office with the other strategists in your region, comparing patterns and stress-testing each other's roadmaps.
- Progression is direct: strong strategists move into Engagement Manager roles within 18–30 months.
- This is the training ground for senior customer-facing leadership at Shipsy.
