• <p>The MongoDB Documentation team is a group of writers and engineers who develop and maintain the documentation for the MongoDB product family.
• The MongoDB Documentation team is a part of the MongoDB Core Product organization and is tightly integrated with the engineering teams responsible for each product.
• <p>You will use your leadership skills to manage and grow a talented team of writers, prioritize and plan documentation projects, and influence the strategic vision for the MongoDB docs.
• <li>You've completed any required technical and leadership training required for the MongoDB Product team</li>
• <li>You've developed a working knowledge of MongoDB's products and know who to follow up with when you need to learn more</li>

• Our goal is to help our readers, both humans and AI, successfully use MongoDB products by providing outstanding documentation.
• We are hiring a Manager Technical Writer to guide the creation of world-class documentation for the MongoDB data platform.</p>
• Your AI-forward mindset coupled with strong writing and technical skills will guide production of clear reference docs and tutorials on high-complexity features.
• Your team’s work, along with the other two MongoDB Docs teams, support AI agents, answer engines, and a large global community of new and experienced MongoDB users.</p>
• <h3>Candidate Profile</h3>
• <ul>
• <li>Is passionate about developing writing expertise on a team through reviews and mentorship</li>
• <li>Has experience prioritizing and planning documentation projects</li>
• <li>Works collaboratively with other documentation leaders and writers</li>
• <li>Grew a technical writing team through interviewing, hiring, and onboarding talented writers</li>
• <li>Has hands-on experience using AI tools to accelerate documentation work</li>
• <li>Leverages sound editorial judgment to evaluate AI-generated content against source material for technical accuracy</li>
• <li>Possesses strong critical reading and writing skills</li>
• <li>Has experience with cloud and database technologies</li>
• <li>Is able to write code for technical examples in at least one programming language (e.g., C++, C#, Java, Python, JavaScript).
• Comfortable reading and interpreting code</li>

• <h3>Position Expectations</h3>
• <li>Lead a technical writing team with opportunity for team growth</li>
• <li>Integrate with a highly collaborative, globally distributed group of documentation leaders to build a strong cross-functional documentation team</li>
• <li>Work cross-functionally with Engineering, Product, Design, Developer Relations, and Product Marketing to ensure the documentation meets the needs of our users</li>
• <li>Guide the team's adoption of AI-assisted research, writing, and review workflows, ensuring quality and technical accuracy remain high</li>
• <li>Foster a positive and effective team culture</li>
• <li>Develop the writing, testing, and technical skills of the team through coaching</li>
• <li>Contribute feedback to the team through copy review and planning discussions</li>
• <li>Collaborate with Engineering and Product on the team’s roadmap</li>
• <li>Advocate for users in everything your team produces</li>
• <li>Produce technically accurate and well-written documentation when time permits</li>
• <h3>In 3 months:</h3>
• <li>You've met with all of your team members and are starting to learn their interests, strengths, and areas for development</li>
• <li>You’ve become comfortable with our toolchain, AI tooling, and writing workflow</li>
• <li>You're getting to know our partners in Engineering and Product Management</li>
• <li>You’re getting comfortable with participating in intra and inter team discussions</li>
• <h3>In 6 months:</h3>
• <li>You review your team’s work and are using their writing to learn more about the MongoDB data platform</li>
• <li>You've adapted to our style of writing and instill technical writing best practices in team members’ work</li>
• <li>You have worked with each team member to develop a growth plan tailored to their career goals</li>
• <li>You and your manager have discussed your career trajectory and growth opportunities</li>
• <li>You've helped the team improve and establish effective, well-vetted AI-assisted workflows for drafting and review</li>
• <h3>In 12 months:</h3>
• <li>You're actively guiding the team to produce consistently high quality documentation for enterprise architectures, entire feature sets, complex tutorials, and high level concepts</li>
• <li>You know how much work your team can manage and are delivering content at a healthy pace</li>
• <li>You provide expert copy and technical reviews for your team members</li>
• <li>You provide best practices and coaching on AI-assisted workflows for your team members</li>
