Role overview

Senior SDET at Practo

Responsibilities

  • Design, build, and maintain automation frameworks across web (responsive/desktop), mobile (Android & iOS), and API layers.

Required qualifications

  • Minimum qualification: Graduate

Employment details

  • Location: Bengaluru [Karnataka] [India]

Additional role details

  • Own end-to-end test coverage for assigned product areas — from test design and review to CI integration and release sign-off.
  • Architect and improve framework patterns: Page Object Model, fragment/screen scoping for mobile, contract-driven API testing (Swagger/OpenAPI), and robust locator strategies.
  • Integrate AI into the testing lifecycle: AI-assisted test case generation, self-healing/auto-recovering locators, intelligent failure triage, and flakiness detection.
  • Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines for automated regression and smoke suites; keep execution fast, parallel, and reliable.
  • Triage production errors and quality signals (e.g., Sentry, New Relic), correlate them with test gaps, and drive coverage improvements.
  • Define and report automation coverage and quality metrics (bug-miss rate, bug ratio, SLA adherence, coverage %).
  • Mentor mid-level and junior SDETs through reviews, pairing, and framework guidance.
  • Partner with dev EMs and product on testing scope for upcoming work and shift-left quality practices.
  • 5+ years in test automation / SDET roles, with at least 2 years on complex, multi-layer automation (UI + API + mobile).
  • Strong programming skills in Python (and/or Java/JavaScript) — clean, maintainable, well-structured test code.
  • Hands-on expertise with: UI automation — Selenium / Playwright / Robot Framework, with solid locator and POM design.
  • Mobile automation — Appium for Android and iOS, including handling fragments, accessibility identifiers, and device/emulator variability.
  • API automation — REST testing, contract testing via Swagger/OpenAPI, stubs/mocks for self-contained suites.
  • Experience designing automation frameworks from scratch, not just writing test cases against an existing one.
  • Strong grasp of CI/CD (e.g., Jenkins/GitHub Actions), version control (Git), and test reporting.
  • Working knowledge of debugging across the stack — browser console/DOM inspection, mobile logs, network traces.
  • Solid understanding of QA metrics, bug lifecycle, and release quality gates.
