Job Description – Zuora Billing Consultant / Developer Position Overview We are looking for an experienced Zuora Billing Consultant / Developer with strong hands-on experience in Zuora Billing, subscription management, invoicing, payments, integrations, data management, and Workflow automation . The ideal candidate should have a strong understanding of the quote-to-cash lifecycle and be capable of configuring, integrating, troubleshooting, and supporting Zuora Billing in a production environment. The candidate should be comfortable working with business stakeholders as well as technical teams to translate billing requirements into scalable Zuora solutions. Key Responsibilities Design, configure, and support Zuora Billing solutions across the complete quote-to-cash lifecycle. Configure and maintain the Zuora Product Catalog , including Products, Product Rate Plans, Product Rate Plan Charges, charge models, and pricing tiers. Configure and manage Subscriptions, Rate Plans, Rate Plan Charges, Orders, and subscription changes . Work with the Zuora Orders framework for new subscriptions, amendments, cancellations, renewals, and other subscription lifecycle activities. Configure and troubleshoot One-Time, Recurring, and Usage charges . Implement and support pricing models such as Flat Fee, Per Unit, Tiered, Volume, Overage, Discounts, and related pricing structures. Configure and troubleshoot proration , billing periods, Bill Cycle Days, billing alignment, and advance/arrears billing. Manage and troubleshoot Bill Runs, Invoices, Invoice Items, Credit Memos, Debit Memos, and invoice posting . Investigate billing discrepancies and identify root causes across product configuration, subscriptions, charges, billing schedules, and invoices. Configure and support Payment Methods, Payment Runs, Auto-Pay, payment gateways, refunds, unapplied payments, and payment failures . Work with payment gateways such as Stripe, Adyen, Braintree, Authorize.net , or similar payment providers. Develop and maintain integrations between Zuora and external systems such as Salesforce, NetSuite, Oracle, ERP platforms, and other enterprise applications . Work with REST APIs, Zuora APIs, Workflow, middleware, and integration platforms . Design reliable integrations using appropriate approaches for authentication, ID mapping, idempotency, error handling, retries, and API limits . Use Data Query, ZOQL, Reporting, and Data Source Exports for data analysis, reconciliation, reporting, and troubleshooting. Develop SQL-based queries to investigate billing, subscription, invoice, payment, and account-level issues. Design and implement Zuora Workflow automations for operational and integration use cases. Troubleshoot production issues related to subscriptions, billing, invoicing, payments, integrations, and data. Participate in requirements gathering, solution design, configuration, testing, UAT, deployment, and post-production support. Support configuration migration between Zuora sandbox and production environments . Work with business, finance, operations, CRM, ERP, and engineering teams to resolve billing-related issues. Prepare technical documentation, configuration documentation, integration specifications, and support procedures. Required Technical Skills Zuora Billing Strong hands-on experience with Zuora Billing . Product Catalog configuration. Products, Rate Plans, Rate Plan Charges, and Charge Tiers. Subscriptions and subscription lifecycle management. Orders and Orders API. Understanding of legacy Amendments. One-Time, Recurring, and Usage charges. Tiered, Volume, Per Unit, Flat Fee, Overage, and Discount pricing models. Billing periods and billing schedules. Proration and credit-back functionality. Bill Runs and invoice processing. Invoice Items, Credit Memos, Debit Memos, and Invoice Settlement. Payment Runs and Auto-Pay. Payment Methods and payment gateways. Refunds and unapplied payments. APIs, Data & Automation Strong understanding of REST APIs . Experience with Zuora APIs and integrations. Experience with Zuora Data Query / SQL . Working knowledge of ZOQL. Experience with Zuora Reporting and Data Source Exports. Hands-on experience with Zuora Workflow . Ability to troubleshoot data and integration failures using queries and logs. Integrations Experience integrating Zuora with one or more of: Salesforce NetSuite Oracle ERP CRM platforms Payment gateways Middleware platforms such as MuleSoft or Boomi Other enterprise applications Candidates should understand data synchronization, external/internal ID mapping, integration sequencing, error handling, retries, idempotency, and API rate limits . Functional Skills The candidate should understand the end-to-end Quote-to-Cash process , including: Product Catalog → Quote/Order → Subscription → Billing → Invoice → Payment → Collections → ERP/GL The candidate should be able to translate business requirements into Zuora configuration and identify the impact of configuration changes on billing, invoicing, payments, and downstream systems. Production Support & Troubleshooting The candidate should have experience troubleshooting real-world Zuora Billing issues, including: Incorrect invoice amounts Unexpected proration Charges not appearing on invoices Incorrect billing dates Failed Bill Runs Draft or unposted invoices Payment failures Gateway errors Incorrect subscription changes Incorrect pricing or charge configuration Integration failures Data synchronization issues API errors Workflow failures Billing-to-ERP reconciliation issues The candidate should be able to explain the problem → investigation → root cause → resolution → preventive action for production issues. Preferred Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Finance, Business, or a related discipline. Zuora certification is preferred. Experience working in Agile/Scrum environments. Experience working with enterprise-scale billing implementations. Experience with Salesforce, NetSuite, Oracle, or other CRM/ERP platforms. Strong SQL and data-analysis skills. Good understanding of accounting and billing concepts. Experience with CI/CD or controlled deployment processes is a plus. Experience Level Recommended: 4+ years of experience in Zuora Billing or subscription billing platforms, with strong hands-on implementation and/or production support experience. Candidates with less overall experience may be considered if they demonstrate strong hands-on Zuora Billing expertise.
