Collected role description
If you are an engineer looking to grow on a global platform, Emerson offers an exciting opportunity within our Project Management Organization as a Document Engineer. In this role, you will own post-order project documentation end-to-end—from project award through final submission—by collaborating with global factories and cross-functional teams. You will ensure timely, accurate, and compliant document delivery aligned with the Emerson Document Deliverable Index (EDDI), while maintaining organized, accessible, and auditable records. In This Role, Your Responsibilities Will Be: Own and manage complete project documentation lifecycle, from post-award through final submission. Participate in project kick-off meetings to understand customer documentation requirements. Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders (factories, Project Managers, engineering, quality, and customers) to ensure timely document submission and approvals per EDDI. Maintain detailed tracking of documents within EDDI/VDRL (Vendor Document Register List). Ensure documents are correctly stored, version-controlled, and easily retrievable in Emerson systems such as DocPro, DMS, or PLM (e.g., Windchill). Review plant-issued technical documents to ensure alignment with scope of supply before customer submission. Prepare document cover pages and manage transmittals between Emerson and customers. Review customer comments, prepare comment resolution sheets, and coordinate responses with internal teams. Submit revised documents with corresponding comment resolution sheets for approvals. Follow up consistently with stakeholders to expedite document reviews, submissions, and approvals. Upload documentation to customer portals or share via approved communication channels. Provide regular document status reports to customers and project teams. Prepare and submit Manufacturing Record Books (MRB) or final databooks per approved index, and support closure for milestone payments tied to documentation. Who You Are: You consistently seek clarity and alignment, ensuring all stakeholders understand expectations and timelines. You effectively collaborate across boundaries, building strong relationships to drive outcomes. You demonstrate a strong sense of ownership, maintaining focus on quality and timely delivery. You organize and manage complex information with attention to detail while proactively identifying risks and resolving issues. For This Role, You Will Need: Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a related field, or equivalent practical experience. Experience in document control or project documentation within engineering, manufacturing, or EPC environments. Familiarity with document management systems (DMS), PLM tools, or similar platforms. Strong communication and coordination skills with global teams and customers. High attention to detail, organization, and ability to manage multiple priorities. Working understanding of technical documentation and project execution workflows. Preferred Qualifications That Set You Apart: Experience with Emerson tools such as DocPro or Windchill, or similar enterprise systems. Exposure to EDDI/VDRL management and customer documentation requirements in global projects. Knowledge of quality standards and compliance frameworks related to technical documentation. Demonstrated ability to manage documentation for complex, multi-location projects. Our Culture and Commitment To You: At Emerson, we foster a culture where every employee is valued, respected, and empowered to do their best work. We are committed to inclusion, collaboration, and continuous learning. You will have opportunities to grow your skills, work on global projects, and make a meaningful impact. We support a flexible and inclusive work environment that enables you to thrive both professionally and personally.
