Lead Senior Firmware Software Systems Design Engineer THE ROLE: We are seeking an engineer to join our team that will thrive in a fast-paced work environment, using effective communication, problem-solving and prioritization skills. Individuals that are well organized, show great attention to detail, and employ critical thinking are well-suited for our team. THE PERSON: This AMD (Advanced Micro Devices) team is looking for a senior level person that can help guide the team, mentor upcoming developers, provide long range strategy, and is willing to jump in to help resolve issues quickly. You will be involved in all areas that impact the team including performance, automation, and development. The right candidate will be informed on the latest trends and become prepared to give consultative direction to senior management. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: Lead Firmware Engineer will play key role in ensuring AMD Embedded firmware addresses critical Embedded market segment (Networking, Storage, Automotive, Thin client) requirements performing the below:<ul style="margin-top: 0in;"><li>Lead firmware team that deliver power management, security , networking and platform memory setup firmware</li><li>Plan, track and deliver all firmware deliverables.</li><li>Design, develop, and debug firmware for internal/external systems and platforms that use AMD APU/CPU</li><li>Design firmware features required by AMD APU/CPU.</li><li>Participant in day-to-day firmware development work using C language. </li><li>will need to interact with internal organizations, vendors, and partners.</li><li>Develop firmware features for AMD new platforms crafted in house or externally. </li><li>support existing firmware for customer escalations and debug firmware and system related issues.</li><li>Assist APU/CPU validation, platform validation, and debug engineers to develop/debug system and silicon issues.</li><li>Collaborate with core firmware teams and ensuring Embedded requirements are addressed.</li><li>Work with Platform Firmware Organization (PFO) in conjunction with Embedded segment architects to meet product requirements.</li><li>Review key firmware requirement / enhancement inputs pertaining to focused Embedded markets.</li><li>Provide custom firmware design support for tier-1 customers by with identifying solution and providing design documents.</li><li>Design, develop, test, review features / releases pertaining to Power Management, Security and Memory.</li><li>Provide low level design documents and user guides.</li><li>Assist customer support team in addressing any firmware related queries.</li></ul> Experience:<ul style="margin-top: 0in;"><li>15+ years experience in hands on firmware development in emulation , simulation and post-silicon environment. Emulation experience is mandatory. </li><li>Strong with C language programming</li><li>Good understanding and experience with BIOS, power management and PCIe</li><li>Good knowledge SoC power management – CPU/Device power states, hot-plug etc</li><li>Security Firmware experience</li><li>Good knowledge about silicon security subsystem / policy, root of trust, TPM/fTPM, Widevine</li><li>Good knowledge of trusted applications and handshake</li><li>Experience with memory recognition and configuration code</li><li>Experience with hardware debug tools</li><li>Good understanding of DDR4, DDR5, NVDIMM</li><li>Good understanding of different DIMM types (UDIMM/SODIMM/RDIMM/LRDIMM/LPDDR)</li><li>Good understanding of UMC features like ECC, SME, SEV, RAS etc</li><li>Firmware development & release process understanding</li><li>Prior experience working with firmware design & development</li><li>Strong knowledge of UEFI BIOS, ACPI.
